Term 3 Computers

This term is another busy one in the Computer Suite.  The Year 7 students are working on activities that are mostly based around the Life Education Caravan being in the school.  For many the focus is on systems of the body.  We have found out some interesting facts and information about how our bodies work.  These are being presented in podcast forms and I am looking forward to seeing the final products later in the term.

As well as the Body Systems focus, other activities are on Drug Education, a focus on India and Egypt, Children of India and Family Stories.  The children working on these tasks are learning how to present their information as an online wiki page.  Room 5 students are using iMovie to create a piece of work that looks at how lucky they are to live in New Zealand.

This term Syndicate Three are having extension activities and the computers group are developing the skills to make movies like an expert.  Techniques have been learnt and practised, planning done and the initial footage has been collected.  We will soon be starting the editing process and this is where the movies start to take shape. 

Options classes this term sees the focus on Digital Art.  We are studying three different artists and art genres and for each study the students will use the computers to create a piece of art in the style and then they will create another piece in a different media form.  Already I can see that we are going to have some fantastic pieces of art to display.

This year we have a group of four students who are participating in the Fair Go Ad Awards, there topic is to create an advert that shows how to improve their parents.... I'm sure this will be a highly interesting activity for them.
