Term 3

Hello and welcome back to Term 3.  I hope you have all enjoyed your mid-winter break and are ready for the busy term ahead…

Our term theme is OUR BODY.  We will be using a programme called IN THE SHADOWS.  The students will be learning about drugs and alcohol and the effects it has on the body. Students will also be studying the human body, with an emphasis on PUBERTY and the changes that come with it.  This unit will be done through our literacy programme, where we will read and also write a Narrative and Discussion piece of work related to the theme.  We will continue to look at EXCELLENCE in our work.

MATHEMATICS…

In Maths, we are looking at multiplication and division, focussing on using a variety of strategies to answer the problem.

LANGUAGES…

In Te Reo we are focusing on Te TINANA, the body. We will be learning about vocabulary relating to this topic. In Japanese we are focussing on vocabulary relating to numbers. We will also continue to work on introducing ourselves in Japanese and Te Reo Maori through out the term.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION…

In Physical Education we are continuing to improve our Fitness levels. Our term focus is BIG BALL SKILLS. We will explore this through Rugby, Soccer and Badminton.

WEEK 1…

We will begin the term with reflecting on the first half of the year, putting together our scripts for our Learning Conferences next week.

Today the students were given timetables and term plans for this term.  One has been glued into their diaries and another copy is for home. The students will be continue to be encouraged to use their diaries on a regular basis so that they are organised for the week ahead.  Please help me to ensure that your child continues to be organised with their stationary.  It can become frustrating when students are looking for pencils and pens before they can begin to work.

As students have mentioned, term 3 is looking to be a big one. Keep a look out on our school website for up and coming events
