Term 2 2010

Welcome to Term 2 in the Computer Suite

This term is a very busy term for us with our eLearning activities.  The year 8's are using the suite this term and their focus is linking to the school wide theme of 'Movement'.

Syndicate One are creating a syndicate wide wiki which is exploring different types of Wonders of the World. Each class has a different focus (ancient, modern, natural and New Zealand) and these are tied together as a wiki.  These are ongoing throughout the term but as it is internet based you can see what they have done so far and their progress at this link.

Syndicate Two students are creating their own ePortfolios. These are ongoing journals where they set goals and keep track of their learning progress and achievements.  These are also in the form of wikis and as soon as these are more developed I will post a link where you can view these as well.

Syndicate Three are focusing on the FIFA World Cup this month.  Each student in these classes are creating their own movie which is part of a television series which focuses on participating countries.  Their movies will be mostly presented  using greenscreening effects and they are very keen to start using this technique.  I am sure these will be interesing pieces of work when they are completed.

During Options this term a group of students are creating a brochure using Pages to promote MIS to upcoming students and families.  They are putting a lot of effort into making this a professional document and one of these will be selected to be printed and used to inform pupils interested in attending our school.

This term Syndicate Two has a group of students using the suite as part of the Extension Programme.  While here they will be further developing their movie making skills using the latest iMovie programme.  They will be focusing on using a variety of camera shots and angles to capture their audiences interest.  I am looking forward to seeing their final products once they have planned, filmed and edited them.
