Homework - Statistical Investigation

The students have all made great starts to their statistics projects. Everyone has constructed a plan as to how they intend to progress through their investigation.

I have decided to give students an extra weekend to complete their work. The new due date will be Monday 22nd March (Week 8)

By Wednesday the 17th (Week 7) I hope to see DRAFT work from all students presented to me in class. This should include collected data and graphed results.

The general plan to completing the investigation is as follows:

1. Come up with an investigation question

2. Produce a hypothesis (what they think will be the results and why)

3. Collect data (survey/observations/measurements)

4. Sort data (into the form of tally/frequency tables)

5. Graph information (2 graphs - these may include bar graphs, column graphs, stem and leaf graphs, percentage graphs)

6. Report findings (give the results of the investigation and relate findings back to hypothesis)

7. Present findings - all of these steps should be included.
Students must display their projects on A3 Paper/Card. This may be white or coloured. We have A3 paper at school. Use of colour and creative or interesting displays will be given bonus marks.
