Home Economics at M.I.S
An exciting yet very bust term!
Year 8 students this term will complete a unit on menu planning with an emphasis on meals that give healthy options to meet their growing needs. We relate this work to when they are given more independence in the home kitchen and when they eventually go flatting.
We will be preparing entree, main and dessert courses to give experience and demonstrate the planning of healthy, cost effective meals using the foods available to them.
Christmas cooking for " Festive Fare and Special Occasions" will complete the term.
The Option Group "Around the world in tasty ways" is already busy cooking dishes and learning a little of other cultures and their food preference.
Cooking Club students are developing and consolidating their skill base.
This terms Extension class, will use a variety of recipe variations to give added experience and also use recipes suitable for our school garden produce and that produced at their homes.
