Agri Kids 2010 National Finals

In the school holidays 3 Agri Kids teams set off to Gore. Agri Kids is the Intermediate version of the Young Farmer of the Year Competition. The teams have three members each and they compete against 27 other teams from all over New Zealand. Some of the things they had to do were put batons on a fence, put a water trough together as well as general knowlege. To get there they had to get in the top four of the regional final.  Our teams came 1st, 3rd and 4th out of the whole East Coast from Gisborne to South Wairarapa.

Term Three Year 8's are into Designing

Technicraft

This term the Year 8 students are working in pairs and designing and making their own money container. They are required to come up with an idea of their choice with the use of sketches, after which they will produce a 2-dimensional drawing showing the different views and sizes that the project is going to be.

With my help, they will then come up with a cutting list of the materials and sizes required to get under way.

Our New Zealand Wonders

As part of the topic for this term the whole syndicate looked at Wonders of the World. The Year 8's created a wiki about different wonders and we decided to choose what we thought were the wonders of New Zealand.  Some of them are man-made and some of the are natural wonders and they are all pretty impressive, just like our wiki.  Please visit our wiki to have a look at our work and the rest of the syndicate and leave us some comments about how you think we have done.

Our Wiki - Natural Wonders

The Year 8's have been working in the computer suite this term and have been learning how to make a wiki.  We worked mostly in pairs creating a wiki page each that became part of the syndicate wiki on the Wonders of the World.  Our pages were about some of the Natural Wonders and we have done a really impressive job of finding out about these wonders and presenting them for others.  We would really like it if you would have a look a

Modern Wonders of the World

As part of term two's focus on the Wonders of the World, the Year 8 students worked alongside the rest of the Year 8's in Syndicate One to create a collaborative wiki.  Our contribution to the process was to look at some of the Modern Wonders of the World.  We worked really hard on this and the final product is pretty incredible and we are really proud of it.  Please visit our wiki and have a look and what we and the rest of the syndicate have done here.  Please leave some comments for us.

Year 8 Computer Work

During Term 2 the Year 8's worked in the computer suite and helped to create part of Syndicate One's wiki about Wonders of the World.  Our focus was the Ancient Wonders of the World and we learnt a lot of information about all of these.
