Home Economics

Our Year 7 programme has now moved on from the emphasis of measurement although that element is always an issue re accurate measuring and confidence in measuring independently.  Our new  unit is titled  "Breakfasts " and incorporates a series of lessons on the need for a healthy breakfast before they leave home and ways basic breakfast foods can be cooked with a difference.

I.e. a bowl of porridge cereal  could be instead Oatmeal hotcakes served not with butter but with honey.

Computer Room Update

This term is flying by and most of the Year 7's are off to a great start with their keynotes.  I have learnt a lot about individual students and they have learnt a lot about themselves, each other and the school in the process.  Many thanks to those parents that have sat down with their students and helped them with their homework tasks.  This has enabled the students to be armed with the information they need when they come to class and therefore the time can be spent with them to teach them the very important skills.

Well done to Room 5 non-stop cricketers for winning the interclass competition. We edged out Room 8 by only 7 runs. What an effort by all who participated.

Room 5 Homework Term 1, Week 5-7

Room 5 students have been asked to come up with a statistical investigation for their homework. This will marked as part of classroom assessment so it is necessary that they complete it.

Most of the work will take place out of school, however students will be given some guidance in class, particularly to start them off and to help present their findings.

Attached are some ideas for an investigation if your child is stuck.
