Jack Johnson was born in 1975 and raised on Oahu lsland, Hawaii. His father was a well-known surfer, and Jack began surfing when he was 5. When he was 17 he became a professional surfer but one week later he had a surfing accident where he needed 150 stitches in his head and lost a few teeth. What's Happening in the Music Department?

During a typical music lesson lots of activities occur.  There is theory to be learned.  Theory is about how music works.  The Year 7's are having music this term.    It's a bit tricky until you know how to do it.

Another thing we have been doing at theory is revising the names and time values of the different notes like

Semibreve = 4 counts

Dotted minim = 3 counts

Minim = 2 counts

Crotchet = 1 count

Quaver = 1/2 a count

The Choir Sings

One Way the Choir can give something back to the community is by singing at Various Rest Homes and concerts in the town. On Wednesday 10th August, all the chior who weren't stricken with colds or illnesses travelled by bus to St Luke's Church in Masterton.  There were about 55 students. Ever month entertainment is organised by the church for Masterton's senior citizens. This month the MIS choir sang four songs in front of a big crowd.  The first song was "Where is Love?" from the show "Oliver".
